Ask someone what comes to mind when they think of a multi-bladed pocketknife. There’s a likely chance the first thing that pops into their head is a traditional small bone-handled pocketknife like their grandfather used to carry. Those original multi-bladed pocket folders were handy for cutting packages or cardboard and floated deep in grandfather’s pocket clinking against his keys and loose change.

The new byrd BY20 Wings is a multi-bladed pocketknife and that is where any similarity ends. It’s a medium sized folder offering the best of both worlds with two full-sized blades made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. The Sheepfoot-shaped blade is hollow-ground with 3- 3/8 inches (86mm) of serrated cutting edge. The Sheepfoot’s rounded tip has no point, suiting it well for puncture-free cutting. Clip Point
Clip Point Blade: A blade on which the back line breaks and slants downward to produce a finer and more useful point. Also, a blade format where the top of the blade has a cutout (or "clip") at the top of the blade. The cutout is either concave or straight. Clipping the blade brings the point of the knife lower, for control. It also makes the tip sharper. Since the sharp point is one of the goals of this format, the clip is often accompanied by a false edge. This format is often combined with a good-sized curving belly, for slicing ability. The combination of a controllable, sharp point and plenty of belly makes the clip point an excellent all-around format.
