ZDP-189 blade steel is the hottest, hardest and highest performing blade steel in the knife industry today. 3% of its component ingredient is pure carbon making the steel harder and in turn extending its edge retention. At press, Spyderco was one of a handful of cutlers around the world working with ZDP-189 blades, offering it on several models including their C90 Stretch folder.
The C90 Stretch started as a pet-project LockbackThe lockback is the simplest and most common true locking knife. It is like a slip-joint, but the lock includes a pivoted latch connected to a spring. To disengage, one presses the latch on the spine of the knife down, releasing the tang. Carbon Fiber Material: A contemporary, premium composite of thin strands of carbon tightly woven into various weave patterns, then set in resin, which is most commonly clear but can be color tinted. It offers great looks and is fairly strong for its minimal weight.
