i had mine since 1984, and i was a young ranger back then, but the kife itself had more history than my platoon combined together. it never failed me, it was there with me in panama in 89, in desert shield and storm. still have the original leather sheath. it outlasted my last 2 marriages, and never gave up on me. there will be no other knife in the world for me, but my Mark 2. i recommend it to anyone in the military, and non military, this is the knife you want and need.

Life saver

I can't say enough about this knife. There is an emotional bond with my MKII. I got mine sent to me by Gerber prior to my deployment to Desert Shield. At the time I thought it was a very nice knife and well balanced. By far it felt much better than the issued knives. And as it turned out, this knife saved my life one day. Without it, I'd not be here today. Do not fool yourself, this knife has a mission. If your looking for a knife that will be there for you when you need it most, quit looking at others. This is the knife you need to have by your side. Mine is of the older design, but Gerber has stayed with a good thing here. I'd never go into harms way without it. I truly believe that all Military personal should be issued this fine blade. And being numbered, you know it's yours. At the price they are selling these for, just ask yourself one question. How much is your life worth?

Got my first MK II while in Special Forces training
at Ft Bragg in 1970. Still
have it after a 24 year Army career, VietNam and
three years in Middle East to include Desert Storm. Do you refurbish knives? I would like to get a new handle and pass the knife to my nephew who
will be going to Afg in 2009. I still have the leather leg sheath it in fair shape. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. I'm going to get me a new MKII. I still do some security work.
THANKS

Gerber Mark ll w/sheath Serial numbered

Reviewer: Gerber Mark II w/Sheath Serial #
I carried one of Petes Gerbers in Nam, wish I still had it. This is a great example of the quality that can still be found in the USA. There are some differences in this Mark II. It is about 3/8" shorter than the original. The icon and serial number are not stamped into the blade, and the serrated area is (actually better). It still has the feel of an extended part of the hand, very slick. This is a keeper, plus it a collectible.
