Cold Steel’s Voyager Series is the new generation of these ultra-light knives and are sure to be the standard by which others are judged for years to come!
The Voyager Series are made from the same premium stainless steel that goes into our famous TantoTanto Blade: The classic Japanese tanto shape has the point exactly inline with the spine of the blade, and has a graceful belly curve. Most tantos seen on the American cutlery market are the Americanized tanto format. Like the Japanese tanto, the Americanized tanto has a high-point in-line with the spine. A flat grind is applied to the point, leaving it very thick and massively strong. The front edge meets the bottom edge at an obtuse angle, rather than curving to meet it as in the Japanese tanto. There is a separate grind applied to the bottom edge, often a hollow grind to leave this edge extremely sharp. Other tanto formats have become popular also, and modifications such as clipping the point or applying a chisel-grind are often seen. . They feature precision milled and hand fitted parts with extra stiff springs. This provides a lock that is safer and stronger than most traditional folders. The blades are extremely wide and ground thin at the edge for tremendous shearing potential. This thin edge allows us to hone the blade to astounding sharpness. Plus, the cutting surface is continuously curved along its entire length for the most efficient possible slicing action. Because of the high carbon content in the stainless steel, you’ll find that the sharpness really lasts a surprisingly long time. If you like serrations, you’ll really appreciate Cold Steel’s exclusive pattern. It offers the aggressive ripping action of serrated teeth, but with a twist. Their design features groups of very small teeth separated by wide, shallow arcs. This results in the benefits of both a plain and a Serrated EdgeSerrated Blade Edge: Scallops in the edge that allow a sawing action; ideal for cutting things like seat-belts and plastic rope. , so that the knife still cuts smoothly through almost any material.
The Voyager Series offers all the advantages of the latest in LockbackThe lockback is the simplest and most common true locking knife. The result is an appealing look with very modern styling. Every detail has been designed for maximum performance from the reinforced pivot pin and integral clip, to the grooved thumb shelf on the back of the knife for extra traction. Plus, the handle offers a superbly comfortable non-slip grip and houses the blade in a sleek, super-light package that can be carried all day without effort.
As tools, these lightweight, super sharp knives are appropriate in almost any environment from hunting and camping, to hiking and general utility chores. They can also readily fill specialty functions such as a boat or river knife, a chute knife or demanding police/survival/rescue applications. |

This is a great knife to have. The fit is superb. This does not have any horizontal or vertical play whatsoever. The handle will surely give you a secure grip due to its texture. The tanto point is perfect for penetration. The serrations make the knife cut better through slick material like nylon. Perfect for cutting through jackets. The length is a bit too long for EDC, though. This is straight-up a tactical knife. The length gives you an extended reach which is great for CQB. I would definitely recommend this knife.
