Clip Point Blade: A blade on which the back line breaks and slants downward to produce a finer and more useful point. Also, a blade format where the top of the blade has a cutout (or "clip") at the top of the blade. The cutout is either concave or straight. Clipping the blade brings the point of the knife lower, for control. It also makes the tip sharper. Since the sharp point is one of the goals of this format, the clip is often accompanied by a false edge. This format is often combined with a good-sized curving belly, for slicing ability. The combination of a controllable, sharp point and plenty of belly makes the clip point an excellent all-around format.

Best knife I have owned

I got my first 3 blade Ole Timer at age 8. Now at age 36 I have owned 3 of these Gerber EZ Out knives since my mid 20's. I am sure I would still have them all if I didn't lose them. The I prefer the non skeleton blade on the older model, but overall it is still the best knife I have owned.

I am currently serving in Iraq. Being in the army I like a strong, sharp, inexpensive knive. This knife is great for every day work. One day my wife picked it up and opened it one-handed with ese. I like her to carry a knife for self defense, she hasn't been able to handle any folder as well as this Gerber. I feel confident when she carries it. That is a lot to ask for in a knife at any price. Thanks Gerber!!!

I've owned 3 so far in about 10 years. This is absolutely my most favorite pocket knife. I prefer the notches in the blade over a thumb tab for one handed opening. I can open this knife with one hand in 3 different ways. I carry this knife with me everyday.

Got one when i was 20 or so carried it for ever untill i lost it. I tried many other knives and none even came close, so I finally bought another one and I am so happy to have a good, quality knife again.

Why Gerber removed this jewel from their retail product line I cannot understand. I've purchased, and returned dissatisfied, the comparable models, but is no comparison. All muscle and no fat, this knife is streamline, ergonomic, holds an edge well,sharpens easily and can quickly be pulled-out,opened/closed, and put back in the pocket with one hand.
